According to Ontario law, retail licensees and their employees (such as licensed convenience or grocery stores) must hold a valid certificate demonstrating the successful completion of an AGCO Board-approved training course before they can sell alcohol. . To address this requirement, We Know Training, a training company for regulated industries in Canada, has created CannServe Standard course, an AGCO Board-approved program that will equip retail employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to responsibly sell and deliver alcohol in Ontario.
Available in both English & French (with additional languages coming soon) – the CannServe standard is a 2-hour course that can be easily taken from a computer or mobile device. The course can also be dispatched to an existing Learning Management System (LMS) for bigger retailers or to stores that already have an existing training system for their employees. The course includes: an overview of the Liquor Regulatory Framework, best practices for the responsible sale of liquor, advertising and promotion guidelines, key regulations and standards regarding delivery, recognizing fake identification and identifying intoxicated customers.
